Guides — exchange connections

Connect your exchange. Keep your keys boring.

Tessen trades through your own exchange account with the least privilege possible: read and trade, never withdraw. We verify that against the exchange itself — a key with withdrawal rights is rejected at connection time, not tolerated.

The three rules, every exchange
  • 1 · Create a new key for Tessen — never reuse one from another service.
  • 2 · Enable reading and trading only. If the withdrawal box exists, it stays unchecked — and we check.
  • 3 · Prefer an IP allowlist where the exchange offers one; several exchanges silently expire unrestricted keys after 90 days.

Binance Futures

CEX

Requires a Binance account with the Futures wallet activated.

  1. 1In your Binance account menu, open API Management and create a new API key (choose “System generated”).
  2. 2Complete the security verification (2FA).
  3. 3Under the key's permissions, enable “Enable Reading” and “Enable Futures”. Leave “Enable Withdrawals” OFF — Tessen will refuse a key that can withdraw.
  4. 4Restrict the key to trusted IPs if you can — unrestricted keys on Binance also expire trading permission after 90 days, so an IP allowlist keeps the connection stable.
  5. 5Copy the API Key and Secret Key (the secret is shown only once) into Studio → Keys → Binance Futures.
Worth knowing
  • · If you've never opened the Futures section, the key can't trade futures — open it once first.
  • · Sub-account keys work; make sure the sub-account has the futures balance.

Bybit

CEX

Unified trading account, USDT perpetuals.

  1. 1Profile → API → Create New Key → System-generated API keys.
  2. 2API key usage: “API Transaction”. Permissions: Read-Write, and under Unified Trading enable Trade (orders & positions). Do NOT enable any Assets/Withdrawal permission.
  3. 3Set an IP restriction if possible — Bybit keys without one expire after 90 days.
  4. 4Copy the key and secret into Studio → Keys → Bybit.

OKX

CEX

OKX keys come in three parts: key, secret, and a passphrase you choose.

  1. 1Profile → API keys → Create V5 API key.
  2. 2Choose a passphrase and store it — Tessen needs all three parts and OKX can't recover the passphrase.
  3. 3Permissions: check Read and Trade. Leave Withdraw unchecked.
  4. 4Enter key, secret and passphrase in Studio → Keys → OKX.

Bitget

CEX

Like OKX, Bitget uses key + secret + passphrase.

  1. 1Profile → API Management → Create API key (system-generated).
  2. 2Set a passphrase; grant Read-write for Futures (orders/positions). No withdrawal permission.
  3. 3Bind trusted IPs if available.
  4. 4Enter key, secret and passphrase in Studio → Keys → Bitget.

Coinbase

CEX

Use Coinbase's Advanced Trade API keys (CDP keys).

  1. 1In Coinbase settings, open the API section and create a new API key for Advanced Trade.
  2. 2Grant view and trade permission only — no transfer permission.
  3. 3Download/copy the key material immediately (shown once) and add it in Studio → Keys → Coinbase.

Hyperliquid

DEX

Hyperliquid is a decentralized exchange — there are no API keys. Instead you approve a separate “agent wallet” that may sign trades for your account but can never move funds. Least privilege is built into the protocol.

  1. 1Fund your Hyperliquid account (USDC) at app.hyperliquid.xyz.
  2. 2Open the API / agent-wallet section on Hyperliquid, generate an agent wallet, and approve it on-chain from your main wallet.
  3. 3Copy the agent wallet's private key and your main wallet address into Studio → Keys → Hyperliquid.
  4. 4Tessen signs orders with the agent key; your funds stay under your main wallet's control at all times.
Worth knowing
  • · Agent wallet approvals have a validity period — if trading stops with signature errors months later, re-approve a fresh agent wallet and update the key in Studio.
  • · Hyperliquid margins in USDC (not USDT) — balances and PnL read in USDC.

Exchange interfaces change; if a menu name here has drifted, the permission principle hasn't — read + trade, no withdrawals, IP-restricted where possible. Ready to connect? Open Studio → Keys.
